Does Microsoft have a special deal with Universal? I had my Universal fill at PDC2003. Don’t get me wrong, it will still be blast. I was just hoping that they might splurge this year and rent out one of the Disney parks.Who wouldn’t love riding the Tower of Terror and Aerosmith’s Rock ‘N Roll roller coaster after a few cocktails???

TechEd 2000 was in Orlando, and the party was at Universal. PDC 2000 was also in Orlando, a month after TechEd and it’s party was at SeaWorld.

TechEd ‘97 (yeah.. I think it was ‘97) was also at Sea World. Here’s a fun game to play we played than (at Sea World). At the attendee party they have an assortment of “cocktail” stations, “food” stations and even “desert” stations. I remember at Sea World we did (1) lap around the park and at every cocktail station we had to parktake in a beverage. Let’s just say by time we made in around park, we were all pretty much crawling out of there. Anyone up for a round or two at this years attendee party?

I missed 97 (one of the three I didn’t get to), but I remember enjoying the roller coasters at Universal quite a lot.
It was hot, wasn’t it? I remember being terribly uncomfortable waiting for an hour in the line for that new (at the time) “Hulk” ride… only to get near the front of the line and hearing the announcement that the ride had broken down. ARRRRRGH!
Maybe that was part of the experience. I seem to recall a large number of people around me turning into green, angry monsters with torn shirts. …at least until I blacked out an tore my own shirt somehow. Go figger.

From what I hear… the party is at Universal Studios, not Islands of Adventure. So there won’t be any chance of trying to get on the Hulk, but they do have ‘The Mummy’ which I’m looking forward to.
Check it out at http://themeparks.universalstudios.com/orlando/website/usf_attraction_mummy.html

I’m not sure whether I’d prefer the lines or not…the last time I rode the Hulk coaster, there were no lines at all, so we rode three times in a row, as fast as we could run back through the line. That was when I discovered that I am occasionally prone to motion sickness. I didn’t actually lose my dinner, but I ended up going back to the bus early, and had the bus equivalent of bed spins for the next hour or so…not fun.
It *is* a great ride, though. :-)

LOL!
I came to realization a while ago that I was getting old when I started feeling claustrophobic from being strapped into these new fangled roller coasters. I can handle it for the length of the ride, but God help me if we ever got stuck.
I’ve also had a few occasions where I felt a litle woozy afterwords. That never happened before!
Gone are the days of being young and stupid.

Are we sure that the party is at Universal Studios? I see no other confirmation of that on the web. Can you post a link? I want to be sure before I buy a guest ticket for my wife.

I haven’t seen any “official” mention on a Microsoft site about it yet. I was informed that the party was at Universal Studios from the nice lady at Maritz Travel. Maritz is handling all of the registration and accomadations for TechEd, so I would guess they’d know something about the attendee party. Take it for whatever it’s worth.

Has there been any mention of an MCP party this year? I didn’t see anywhere on my registration asking for my MCP credentials.
April 20, 2005
I think there is some sort of “Techie Influencers” party happening on Wednesday (probably not named like that..) that may include MCPs and MCTs like last years. I know I’m working at it. :) But I don’t know who all is being invited, unfortunately.
I’ve attended all the MCP parties since ‘98, and it would be a shame if they didn’t somehow get all MCPs to some special outing. But.. reality may be that there are just SO MANY of us now!
I’ll post something about the party to my blog when I know more.

And any invites you may be able to pass along would be most gratious. :-)
As a matter of fact, I was looking to either attend some sort of event every night of the week. Whether that’s crashing (err…) *getting invited* to any vendor and/or “influencer” parties or setting our own get togethers up. Anyone interested? I should probably blog this so it gets more viewers.

Ummm Universal studios. Well looks like i need to stock up on the dramimine, I am not 21 any more. I be honest I rather be at Islands of Adventure, as oppose to Universal, but hey a party is a party.

Anybody heard of any other parties besides the MCP and Attendee party? Anybody staying at the Rosen Centre Hotel?

Found this tonight and wanted to share it with everyone. Go RSVP and get yourself a pass to this party (got lots of T-shirts and Hawaiian shirts last year in San Diego).
