Chicago Day of .NET 7

November 16th, 2005

Last week was by far my craziest week at Microsoft since joining just over a month ago. On top of business review meetings and the big launch event, I decided to throw a couple of talks at the Chicago .NET User Group’s Day of .NET 7 event into the mix.

As promised, here are the slide decks…

New UI Features in Windows Forms 2.0

VSTS Enterprise-Class Source Control

And for those of you asking for theOutlook Look andFeel sample code, you canfind it(and many other samples) over at WindowsForms.net.

Chicago Visual Studio Launch - Big Success!

November 16th, 2005

This is getting posted a little late, but as they say, better late than never.

The Chicago Visual Studio Launch was a highly successful event with well over 3300in attendance! As my first big Microsoft event as a blue badge, it was a real thrill to feel the buzz and excitement over the release of Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005.

I’d like to thank Jon Rauschenberger, Tim Landgrave, Kevin Hammond and Rocky Lhotka for doing a stellar job in the Developer track sessions.

The Ask the Experts area was buzzing all afternoon with the area busting out at the seams during lunch. We couldn’t have managed it at all without the help of the following people:

Raj Das
Keith Franklin
Norm Gragasin
Marc Gusmano
Paul Hacker
Jon Henning
Steve Janis
Jeff Key
Keenan Newton
Todd Reardon

Thanks one and all!

Catch the Visual Studio Launch Event - Live from San Francisco

November 7th, 2005

It wasn’t so long ago (okay - it was a while ago) that we had our first introduction to Whidbey and Yukon at PDC 2003 in Los Angeles. Well.. the wait is finally over! Today is the day!

Steve Ballmer will lead things off will the release of Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005 in San Francisco on Monday, Novemeber 7th. And you know when SteveB’s involved, it’s an event surely not to be missed. Catch it all live at http://www.microsoft.com/events/executives/webcasts.mspx. The event begins at 11AM (CST) (9AM PST). If you can’t make the live broadcast, don’t fret - the webcast will be available on demand shortly after the event.

If you’d rather see all the great demos and pizazz in person, check for a local launch event near you. For those of you unable to make it to a launch event, keep in an eye on theMSDN Events team. They may becoming to your neck of the woods and bringing the “Best of Visual Studio Launch” with them.
